JARAS: Abolfazl Abedini’s mother quotes, “ It is two years now that Abolfazl is in prison without a day off, not even for Eid. As you know the bail is too heavy, and I can not afford it; it is very hard. After much struggle, going to the District Attorney, and having the run around, I do not know if they are going to agree or not.”

Abolfazl Abedini is a political prisoner that has been imprisoned for the past two years. He is not granted to leave prison even for one day. This activist is completing his sentence with its one year increase which was issued by residing Judge Moghise branch 28, Revolutionary Court.

Interesting to note, the prisoner has already been sentenced based on the “propaganda against the regime” charges and completing his prison term, while one more year is added to his sentence based on the same accusations.

Assereh Eyvazi, Abolfazl Abedini’s mother, referring to her pain and sorrow, told “Jaras”: “Now it is two years that Abolfazl is in prison and has not been awarded Prison Leave even for one day!He could not even leave for the Eid. As you know the bail is too heavy, I can not afford the bail, and it is very hard. After a lot of struggle, going to the District Attorney, and having the run around, I do not know if they are going to agree or not.”

Abolfazl Abedini was arrested for the second time in March 2010 and was transferred to Section 2- Evin prison. After he was convicted, Abolfazl was retransferred to Karoon Ahvaz prison. In September 2011, while completing his sentence with onerous conditions, was transferred back to Section 350-Evin prison.

In early 2010, his Mother wrote an open letter to the head of the Judiciary system,” These days, throughout the New Year’s days, I have been a witness to my imprisoned child who is sick, and his unknown psychological, mental, and physical conditions has been my gift for the New Year. Since five years ago this tiny young man has been arrested every year, tortured, and after completing long term in solitary confinement, with the heavy bail issued by the court of justice, and the help of sympathetic individuals, he has been released. He was not convicted in any of the courts and was acquitted honorably every time. For committing what sin does he deserve these tortures? For the sin of defending Khuzestan’s Haft Tappeh Sugarcane Laborers? For defending the Teacher’s union? For defending the bus drivers’ union and other guild? Or expressing the present situation of our Country?”

This afflicted mother has broken her silence after two years and in regards to her last visit with her son, she stated,”Last week, I visited my son. Thank God he was fine. His situation is better than before, but because of the long distance and my poor health conditions, and riding the car, it is very hard for me to visit him every week. When he looks at me and feels my situation, he says, ‘With all these troubles please do not come to visit. You will become sick and tired.’ Sometimes, when I can not visit him, they let him call me. We can visit him in-person once a month. Of course we have to fill the form for permission to be able to do so. The in-person visits are very nice since we can sit together. These kind of meetings has had a nice ambiance to it. But just once a month! He suffers from cardiac disease, has shortness of breath and is under medication for these conditions. Abolfazl has been a very kind, soft, spoken individual. He has found right route for himself and his activites. He has been active, so he was arrested. What else can I say?! I can not do anything for him, I can only visit him to calm myself down.”

At the end Mrs. Eyvazi adds, ” I am a mother, who worries for and misses her child. But what can I do? Is there any other way but to have patience? Now, it has been two years that Abolfazl has been in prison. There are ten more years left from his sentence for his Human Rights activities and the interviews in regard to Human rights issues. How can I not be sad? What am I able to do? My only wish is for Abolfazl to be “FREE”. Sewer the God, I pray for all the young prisoners day and night and for their freedom. It is not just my child. There are so many of them that every time we go for a visit we get lost. I ask God to free all of them.”

It is worth it to mention that Abolfazl and nine other political prisoners in section 350-Evin prison throughout an open letter, protested the situation of sick political prisoners conditions that has no access to medical treatment.

I do not want to perform autopsy on contemporary politics! But for once I want to find the answer to this question. Through out Iran’s contemporary history there have been different speculations and reflections that each one has been based on a specific consideration to reach a goal that has been formed predominately.
Communists!Toodehists! Pan Iranists! Socialists (of different sorts)! Many religious and other political believers that I might oppose but respect them all! Why they do not explain the answer to the question,”What is the meaning of Reformist?”.
The word Reform, that was adopted by the end of 1370 decade (end of 1990 decade)with the emergence of a person named Seyed Mohammad Khatami in Iran’s political arena ?! Who is a reformist and basically what does he want to reform? Those years we kept asking what does Reform mean? They put us down even though we were patriots,we were branded ignorant! We hollered! We were deprived of higher education and were tortured! But ultimately our cries got nowhere! Years passed and there is no need to review what happened to the nation!!! And the same question still remains?
The ones that are still supporting the reform, what do they want to reform? To reform the sectarian government that adheres to the Supreme leader? Totalitarian government that steals the votes? The rulers that could not even tolerate funeral for Pezeshkpour, Hejazi and Sahabi? And shamelessly assassinate the daughter in her father’s funeral?
Friends, fellow reformists! Explain yourselves to us! What things do you intend to reform?Does not reform mean that you accept the whole, but considering some violations can be corrected within the system????
Is it reformable? Are you fooling yourselves or us?
Kaveh Shahriari

Ezzatollah Sahabi passed away! The authorities did the same thing that they did with the body Mohsen Pezeshkpour (the founder of Pan Iranist Party) body few months ago. Attempted to kidnap the corpse and buried secretly !! Up to this part of the story is so repetitive. But this time at the time of funeral something strange happens! Ms. Haleh Sahabi, the political prisoner who was on Temporary Leave from prison and mourning her father’s funeral, is killed because of beating and battery during a conflict!!!!!
How strange!
I do not know if this was a calculated move by the authorities, or a unwanted and foolish behavior out of anger! But whatever the reason is, the action is brutal and inhumane!
And worse than that according to the published news the body of Ms. Haleh Sahabi has been buried under tight security measures! This act by itself is a an evidence of not practicing Islam! I wrote this because I know that the Sahabis are a devout family.
And all these are a preface to my last words;
Haleh Sahabi, like many others, lost her life on the path to freedom of Homeland! Lets come together in the virtual world not to make a myth and not recite the tragedy. Lets come together with novel plans for Iran’s freedom.
And lets more than before think of this statement by Dr. Mohammad Reza Ameli; “ So, from now on do not think of me, think of Iran.”
Hail to all that lost their lives on the path of freedom for Iran.

One more year is added to Abolfazl Abedini, a member of the Pan Iranist party, unjust 11 years sentence, so the history be witnessed to this great biased and inhumane sentence.
According to HRANA reporters, the news organization for Human Rights activists in Iran, on May 1, 2011, a new trial was set at branch 28 revolutionary court under Judge Moghiseh chairmanship. The trial was held by Abolfazl Abedini transfering from Evin prison to the court. He was sentenced to one more year of imprisonment based on the charges of the propaganda against the regime.
This sentence is related to his last case against him, after his arrest on March 2, 2010 by the intelligence forces.
After the June 2009 arrest, Abolfazl abedini was sentenced to 11 years of imprisonment base on his membership in Pan Iranist party and Human Rights Activists society, and also communication with hostile governments, and interviews with foreign media. Overall, based on the new decree, he is sentenced to 12 years in prison.
Needless to say, since his last arrest on March 2, 2010, Abolfazl Abedini was not granted Prison Leave and was denied to have a private visit with his family.

Abolfazl Abedini, Shahin Zeinali, Peyman Aref and Hossein Ronaghi Maleki, the four political prisoner in section 350, Evin prison, through a joint statement protested to Iranian government silence about the brutality against the Iranian minority residing in Bahrain, and because of the record of Iranian government against its own residents ,its potentiality to defend and support the democracy movement in Bahrain,is considered ineligible to justify Human Rights for Bahrain nation.
Full text of joint statement that had submitted to Human Rights Committee is as follows;
Throughout decades of separation of Bahrain from our country, Al Khalifeh dynasty has ruled with racism and repressive manner over the land. Decades that all possible efforts were taken by Bahraini authorities to change the racial composition of the population density from Iranian-Arabs to Saudi- Arabs, the tragic and harrowing epic of forced migration of Iranian and Bahraini shiites, at the time that Islamic Republic of Iran has always introduced itself as the most important and the undisputed power in the Persian Golf region, unfortunately at the same time, granting effective protection of the Iranian population is denied, and this is a long sorrowful story by itself.
Yes, unfortunately throughout these years Iran foreign policy has not taken action to effectively serve these former Iranians! At the same time the most brutal and ruthless act is taken against them by Al Khalifeh government!
And now, once again, the oppressed citizens of this country have demanded democracy and dissolving social-political apartheid, the Iranian government, because of its inferior record against its own citizen, sees the potentiality to defend and support the democracy movement of Bahrain citizens inconceivable,(out of his hands).
The events in Bahrain and the continued presence of people against Al Khalifeh dictatorship could be a lesson learned for all the authoritarian regimes. Because of perseverance and resistance of the people, eventually all the obstacle that Al Khalifeh has created, is pushed aside ,and the gateway tosovereignty and power under the society and public need, will be provided.
That time would not be so far, and the ones who are standing in front of Bahraini citizens and has been quiet in regards to the peoples demands, will be disgraced and ashamed!
These conditions must be evaluated , of course particularly by the western governments, specially European Unions and United states of America. If the western power accompanies the democracy movement in Tunisia, Egypt and even Libya, it is expected to support the movement of Bahraini people.
At the end, we, the political prisoners, that have been unfairly imprisoned for seeking democracy and patriotism, initially demand from Iran government with observance and protection the rights of Iranian nation to consider all the legitimate demands made by the nation, to release all the political prisoners, then to apply active foreign and even necessary humanitarian intervention to support the democracy movement of these former citizens that were separated from the motherland, not by their own democratic free will.
Abolfazl Abedini, Shahin Zeinali, Peyman Aref, Hossein Ronaghi Maleki

He would not have taken any other measure, because there was no other means.
Hossein Shahriari, a 75 year old political activist, was detained and spent over 18 hours in the security forces station, in the worst conditions. In a rancid room!!A seven square meter room!!Together with several drug dealers.
The next day, after many hours of the administrative process, around six PM, he was admitted to Rajaiee Shahr prison to complete the 18 months sentence for the charges of:Propaganda against sacred Islamic Republic, Acting against National Security,Interview with foreign media and membership in the Pan Iranist Party!!?
Now, After five hundred and five days, father is granted Prison Leave to the end of the sentence. This means under the regulations under section 219 of the prisons, any prisoner who only has one tenth of the sentence left, can file a petition for Prison Leave. The end of the sentence for Hossein Shahriari is on March 5,2011,and according to thew above statement, he is free now.
But during these five hundred and five days, many friends (in various forms) has accompanied my family and I. I owe every single one of them. I do not mention them because I am afraid that not only I miss a few but there is no advantage in doing that. Undoubtedly I will thank them in private. But I will mention one person. A very dear friend that I do not know in person. The one that I lived with his posters for five hundred and five days. Hossein Mahoutiha . The one that with out any claim carries an enormous load. Thank you dear Hossein.
Nevertheless my father is released for now, but many others are still confined to prisons.
With the hope for the freedom of all political prisoners.
Long Live Iran
Kaveh Shahriari
January 29,2011
