HRA News Agency: Tuesday morning, July 6, 2010, Abolfazl Abedini, journalist and former Iran human rights activist was disallowed to visit with his family.

According to HRANA, this morning, Abolfazl Abedini’s mother went to Karoon Ahwaz prison to visit with her son. She was told he is not allowed to have any visitor until further notice.

After witnessing the new disposition, the mother of the political prisoner approached the Karoon prison officials regarding the situation. She was told that the decision was made by the warden and did not give her any further detail.

Mr. Abedini is completing his 11 years sentence in section 6, Karoon Ahwaz prison. Since his transfer to this facility he has never had any visitation in the presence of his family. The only means of his short visit with his mother and brothers was through a cabin.

Abolfazl, the human rights activist, had warned the officials numerous time of his life being in imminent danger because of being confined together with dangerous and notorious prisoners.

Needless to say, Abolfazl Abedini’s family live in the city of Ramhormoz, 100 km away from Ahwaz, and for a few minutes visit, they have to travel in temperature over 50`c.
