HRANA: Abolfazl Abedini’s Request to Leave from prison has been denied for the second time

HRA News Agency: The Request to Leave that was filed by the lawyers of Abolfazl Abedini, journalist and human rights activist sentenced to 11 years of confinement, has been denied.

According to HRANA, this is the second time during the past month that Abolfazl Abedini’s Request to Leave due to his poor psychological and physical conditions has been denied by the public prosecutor.

Abolfazl suffers intensely from cardiac disease and according to his cardiologist, a closed environment has negative effect on his condition, and he should not be under any stress or disturbances.

Abedini was arrested by the security forces following the the presidential election events and people protesting, in Ahwaz, last year. He was released on bail after enduring physical torture (he was brutally tortured and beaten by an air conditioner’s belt) and finishing the detention period in October 2009.

On March 3, 2010, following an attack by sixty Sepah forces on his family and the neighbor’s residence in Ramhormaz, he was arrested for the second time in one year.

Abolfazl Abedini was immediately transferred to Section 2A Sepah Pasdaran, Evin prison. After withstanding the mental and physical duress and pressure during his temporary detention in Evin, he was transferred to Karoon Ahwaz prison to finish his 11 years sentence on April 25, 2010.
